Microsoft working on 'floating' and 'no-touch' displays

Technology giant Microsoft is working on a next-generation technology that will enable 'no-touch' phones, tablets and televisions that can be operated from afar, without the need to swipe them.

According to Microsoft, the technology will allow users to control a screen with their fingers even from the other side of the room and put their hands through a screen to 'touch' objects.
Microsoft said it is has begun to create machines that move far beyond touch-screens.

"   Rico Malvar, Microsoft's chief scientist, said work has begun on new screens that can be manipulated without needing to approach a gadget.   "

It would be a whole new experience with the technology like this user interface. The new generation would surely appreciate it.The company is building an electronic bracelet that can detect movements in a person's fingers, allowing them to imitate the actions of poking and flicking the screen to operate a device.
The bracelet would allow people to operate a television despite having their back turned or control a mobile phone with their hands in their pockets, 'The Times' reported.

Microsoft has also unveiled new interactive displays. Among them is a floating display, which gives the illusion of a globe spinning or a dragon flying, just inches above a flat monitor. Cameras and motion sensors then allow people to interact with these floating objects.
Another prototype allows someone sitting in front of a large screen to see a series of cubes. They can then "touch" these objects. This device operates by surrounding the screen with cameras that can detect the user and their movements, matching them to on-screen items.

Tim Large, a researcher from Microsoft's Applied Sciences Group, said that final versions of these displays will be ready in two to five years. "

So we have to wait for a while for experiencing such a tech. wounder. Although, it would be definitely out of the reach of mostly moderate buyers as it would cost much as expected. Microsoft is a tech-giant and something like this coming on the way would surely give a tough competition to its rivals.

Karbonn & Lava to launch Windows Phone in India soon

Domestic handset players Lava and Karbonn will launch Windows Phone-based smartphones in the coming few months, the companies announced recently.

Karbonn's Windows Phone devices will be in the price range of Rs. 6,000 to Rs. 12,000. Lava's Windows Phone devices will start at Rs. 6,500.

"We will come out with four devices with Windows [Phone]-based operating system by the end of May or starting of June in the price range of Rs. 6,000 to Rs. 12,000," Karbonn Managing Director Pradeep Jain told PTI.

Lava International CEO and MD Hari Om Rai said: "A series of Windows [Phone]-based phones will be launched under the Lava brand by July. These will be priced in the range of Rs. 6,500 to 8,500."

  • Rai said the phones will be based on Qualcomm Snapdragon 200 processor and will run on the Windows Phone 8 platform."We expect the Windows [Phone]-based phones to represent 8-10 percent volume of Lava smartphones starting July-August time-frame," Rai added.

As the number of mobile manufactures are increasing in the Indian market, there is a tough competiton between the companies. On the other hand buyer are having a tough time in deciding which mobile set to go for. Android market has been successful and same goes for the Windows one. Till date Nokia and HTC are the only one providing the proper windows phone in India.

  • For the Xolo brand of phones, the expected timeline of launch is the coming quarter. "We at Xolo believe that Windows OS has certain goodness to offer for a certain market segment and it will help Xolo reach a desired 15 percent share of the smartphone market by end of 2014," a Xolo spokesperson said.

* Last month, at the Mobile World Congress, Microsoft had announced that it would be working with nine new Windows Phone partners, including Foxconn, Gionee, JSR, Karbonn, Lava (Xolo), Lenovo, LG, Longcheer and ZTE.
HTC, Huawei, Nokia and Samsung are already making Windows Phone-based devices. As per the IDC figures for Q4 2013.

Android had a 78.1 percent share of global smartphone shipments while the Microsoft Windows Phone platform share stood at 3 percent.

Windows phone are meant to be more tacky but are costly in the market too. After all having just 2 major providers in India ' NOKIA and HTC' . Now coming rivals Karbonn and Lava may fullfill  the wish of the low budget coustomers.

Although Android is much more preferred and has a wide presence all over. Buyers are now going for Windows  Phone and this might be good new for Windows providers.

The Nokia on its launch confirmed that the other two products Nokia X+ and XL would soon launch and available, while the Nokia X is now up in the market.
For more specification you may view its on Nokia X launch.
This phone is well suited to give its competitors a break . Samsung on the other hand  is at its place with Galaxy Duos 2 to give it a fight in its segment.
This phone may cost you upto 8,500 INR.

Personal Review :

  •  The phone feature the Fastlane experience so you can have every app on the tip of your hand and its seem to be a good feature to be included.
  •  The Nokia user will not be able to excess Google Play Store rather they have to download the apps through Nokia Store only.
  • It plays and supports more than 75% of the Android application without making any changes.
  • As its has a 1GHz Cortex A-D dual core CPU with a QUALCOMM Snapdragon S4 Play processor, gaming will be more playful for the gamers.
  • When it comes to the features such as camera, it has made bit disappointment having on 3mp camera is not enough for user and that too when it comes with Skype application preloaded and not a front camera too.
  • Else on its pricing , its better to have it.
  • And its new them of vibrant colors give it a better class.
  • Nokia XL would be coming with much more better feature but that too with a heavy cost.

*for user who need a good phone or a best in affordable cost and that too with a promise on Nokia , this device is best. So you should go for this one.
